Your best guy can't be on every job.
Every contractor has them. The lead who frames it right the first time. The finisher everyone calls when a slab looks wrong. The electrician whose panels never come back from inspection. Right now, that know-how only reaches the crew they happen to be standing next to. And one day, they won't be there.
He retires.
You saw it coming, but nobody wrote anything down.
He takes another job.
Two weeks' notice, and what he knows leaves with him.
He gets hurt or sick.
He's out for three months, and callbacks start creeping up.
He moves.
Family, a new state, a fresh start. Good for him. Hard on you.
Retirements you can plan for. The rest you can't. The best time to capture how your best people work is while they're here.
And when the new guy leaves?
You know how it goes. Your lead spends a couple of weeks showing a new hire the ropes. Then that hire moves on, and it starts over with the next one.
With Field Lessons, how your company does it is captured once. Each new hire starts with the same lessons, and your lead picks up from there.
What gets captured
The things they don't teach in school.
Your crew already knows the basics. What they don't know yet is how your company does it, and what your best people picked up over years on the job.
- How it's done hereYour layout sequence, nailing schedule, forming checks, panel standards.
- What to watch forThe most common mistakes on each task, and what causes callbacks.
- How you know it's rightThe checks your best people make before they call it done.
- Shortcuts that work, and ones that don'tWhat's safe to speed up, and what always costs you later.
- What inspectors catchSo it passes the first time.
More than the task. How the best ones work.
Skill is only part of what makes your best people great. The rest is how they approach the job, every single day.
How they start the day
Walking the site, checking the plans, staging tools and material before the first cut.
How they think on the job
Slowing down where it matters. Checking twice before it's buried in a wall or a pour.
How they carry themselves
Pride in the work. How they talk to a homeowner, an inspector, or a GC's super.
What years taught them
Lessons that only come from time in the field, so the next crew doesn't learn them the hard way.

For every trade: Start of Day, your company's way. A short first lesson on your best lead's morning routine.
How it works
Send us what you have. We do the rest.
No new software for your lead. He shows how he does it, and we handle the rest.
Tell us what to train on
One lesson covers one task for one trade, like wall layout for framers. More to cover? We'll group the lessons into a course.
Send us what you have
Our one-page questionnaire, a Word document, notes from your lead, or a phone video under 5 minutes. Video is optional. Whatever's easiest.
We build the lesson
Narrated in English and Spanish, with a quick exam at the end. One round of revisions included.
Your crew scans and starts
Completions and exam results show up on your dashboard.
Capturing this used to take a film crew and a big budget. Now it takes a short video or a one-page questionnaire. Most lessons are ready in 5 to 10 business days after we receive your material.
Crew training without email or passwords
Scan a card. Start training.
Most crew members don't have a company email, and nobody wants another password. So they don't need either.
QR badge
A printed card or hard-hat sticker. Scan it with the phone camera and they're in.
Company code and PIN
For a shared tablet in the trailer, or when a phone isn't handy.
No app to download
Opens in the phone's browser. Save it to the home screen for next time.
Tailgate meetings too
The crew scans one code and follows along. Everyone gets their own record.
For your lead
Your company's way, shown by your best hands.
Your best people are proud of their work. This respects that, without asking them to be anything they're not.
"Would you show us how you do it?"The easiest ask an owner can make.
The work, not himself
No personal stories. Just how the job gets done right.
You have the final say
You and your lead review every lesson and can change anything before it goes out.
Credit, if he wants it
Lessons can carry his name, like "Shown by Henry, 22 years with us," or simply the company's.
Less repeating himself
New hires learn the basics before they reach his crew.
Crew training in English and Spanish
Made for the jobsite, not the office.
English and Spanish
Narrated by native voices, not just translated text. Each worker gets the language they understand best. Other languages on request.
QR code sign-in
A badge or a company code and 4-digit PIN. No company email, no passwords to forget.
No app to download
Runs in the phone's browser. Works on a tablet in the trailer too.
One sitting on a phone
A lesson runs about 20 to 30 minutes: the video, the walkthrough, and the exam. Done in one sitting, wherever they are.
Real jobsite situations
Workers face realistic scenarios, choose what they'd do, then see how your lead would handle it.
Your own training portal
Your crew signs in at yourcompany.lassolearn.com, with your logo and colors throughout.
Training records and certificates
Shadowing leaves no record. This does.
When a new guy shadows your lead, you hope he got it. With Field Lessons, you know.
| Worker | Start of Day | Wall Layout | Flashing |
|---|---|---|---|
| M. Reyes ES | Done | Done | In progress |
| J. Carter EN | Done | Done | Done |
| L. Ortiz ES | Done | In progress | Not started |

completed Wall Layout, the Smith Framing Way, shown by Henry Morales, and passed all checks.
One dashboard for every worker
Red, yellow, and green status across every person and every course.
A quick exam at the end
Every lesson closes with a short test on what was taught. Automatic reminders nudge anyone who falls behind.
Certificates, issued automatically
Each with a verification link anyone can check.
Records you can hand over
Name, lesson, and timestamp for every completion. Export audit-ready records for a GC, an insurer, or your files.
Tailgate meetings count too
The crew joins by QR code on their own phones. Each person gets a record, with an optional group photo. No sign-in sheets.
Hands-on and paths by role
Log in-person sessions and field sign-offs alongside online lessons. Group courses into paths for new hires or crew leads.
Who's learned your framing standard? Who's ready to run a crew? The answer is on the dashboard, not in your head.
Safety, SOP, and onboarding training
One place for all your crew training.
Start with your best hands. Then put the rest of your training in the same place, with the same QR sign-in, Spanish versions, and tracking.
Send us what you have: a binder, a PowerPoint, an SOP, or a phone video. We turn it into training.
Safety
Toolbox talks, fall protection, and your site safety rules.
SOPs
Your written procedures, turned into lessons crews actually finish.
Equipment
How to run, inspect, and care for your tools and machines.
Onboarding
Company policies, jobsite expectations, and what every new hire needs on day one.
Built for both sides of the business.
Residential
Builders, remodelers, and trade contractors
Your reputation is built one home at a time. When a new crew doesn't do it your way, you hear about it from the homeowner. Keep your quality consistent as you add crews.
Commercial
Subcontractors and self-performing GCs
Multiple crews, multiple sites, and a GC who wants proof. Put your best people's methods on every jobsite, with records for prequalification and safety reviews.
Not trade school. Not a license.
We assume your people already know the trade basics. We teach them how your company does it.
Not a trade school or certification program. Not licensing or exam prep. Not generic, off-the-shelf videos. Certificates show a worker completed your company's training and passed its checks. Need safety training too? We build that, on the same dashboard.
Pricing
Simple pricing, set up front.
Every lesson covers one topic, built from a phone video under 5 minutes, a document, or our one-page questionnaire, so pricing stays simple and there are no surprises. Book a walkthrough and we'll go over pricing for your crew.
Each lesson is a one-time build. Your branded portal, tracking, and records are a simple monthly subscription based on crew size.
FAQ
Questions owners ask.
My best guy isn't a tech person. Will he do this?
He doesn't need to touch any technology. He answers a one-page questionnaire, or a supervisor fills it out with him. If you want video too, someone on the crew films a short clip on a normal day. That's it.
Do we have to film anything?
No. Video is optional. We can build a lesson from the questionnaire, a Word document, your SOPs, or notes from your lead. If you do film, hands and voice are enough, and he never has to be on camera.
Are the videos private?
Yes. Your lessons live in your company's own training portal, and only your crew can see them after signing in with their QR code or PIN. They're never public. We also provide a simple release for anyone on camera to sign before filming.
How much of my lead's time does this take?
Enough time to answer a one-page questionnaire. If you add video, a few minutes during work he's already doing.
Can workers sign in without an email?
Yes. Each worker scans their QR badge with their phone camera, or enters a company code and 4-digit PIN. No email, no password, and no app to download.
How do I train Spanish-speaking crew members?
Every lesson is built in English and Spanish, with native narration in Spanish, not just translated text. Each worker gets the version in the language they understand best.
Can it have our name and logo?
Yes. You get your own training portal at yourcompany.lassolearn.com, with your logo and colors on the sign-in page and throughout the training.
How do I know my crew actually learned it?
Every lesson ends with a quick exam based on what was taught. Your dashboard shows who finished and passed, certificates are issued automatically, and supervisors can log hands-on sign-offs.
How is pricing set?
Pricing is set per lesson. Each lesson covers one topic, and several lessons can be grouped into a course, built from a short video, a document, or our questionnaire. We'll go over it on a short call.
What if we need changes?
One round of revisions is included with each build. When your methods change later, we can update the lesson.
